大陸國家主席習近平依照慣例乘坐大陸國產「紅旗」車，校閱受檢部隊。隨後抗戰老兵組成的2個方隊率先通過天安門，並有摩托車方隊在前方與兩側護衛。摩托車禮賓護衛是世界各國在外交活動中迎送國賓的最高禮儀，中共以此展現對老兵的重視。

此次閱兵共67個方隊，中國50個方隊，外國17個方隊。中國方隊包括2個抗戰老兵方隊、10個空中梯隊、11個徒步方隊、27個裝備方隊，約1.2萬人。

北京昨日上午舉行抗戰70周年紀念大閱兵，由400名抗戰老兵及其子女乘坐的30輛敞篷車率先通過天安門，不少老兵感動落淚。其次是三軍儀仗隊，備受矚目的女儀隊首次接受校閱，成為期待「嬌」點。

據報導，此方隊主要從大陸目前健在的國共兩黨抗戰老兵中遴選，兩黨老兵共同乘坐敞篷車，我們的平均年齡為90歲，最年長者102歲。有老兵在通過天安門時甚至感動落淚。

三軍儀仗隊緊隨其後，共有156名男兵、51名女兵，規模堪稱史上最大。其中平均身高178公分、平均年齡20歲，並有人曾當過模特兒的女儀隊是首次在閱兵儀式亮相，事前備受注目，不料昨日只在轉播畫面角落出現。
